Decahedral nanoparticle of anatase 662dh

Anatase is one of three widely known crystal phases of titanium dioxide TiO2.

This anatase nanoparticle has decahedral shape, that is it has ten facets on its surface.

These surfaces are 8 of {101} and 2 of {001}.

The nanoparticle has size 2.3 x 2.3 x 2.5 nm.

Stoichiometry and neutral charge of the nanoparticle are attained by adding 8 oxygen atoms at the vertices between facets {001} and {101}.

This model can be a very nice illustration for nanoscience, solid state chemistry, inorganic chemistry, surface science and

serve as a staring point for performing modeling.

The shape of the nanoparticle is very close to the shape of naturally occuring crystals of anatase.
